WHO AM I?

Who am I?

Hi, my name is Elmer Bastiero Sumalinog, but you can call me Jayvee. I live in Talisay City, Negros Occidental. I am 23 years old and a fresh graduate from Carlos Hilado Memorial State University with a degree in Information Technology. I aspire to be a digital marketer and want to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses. I believe that online business is the future for entrepreneurs.

Fresh Graduate

After my graduation, I applied to a BPO company, IQOR. It was the only company I wanted to join based on the feedback from my classmates who were already in the call center industry.

During my college years, it was challenging to figure out what I truly wanted to do. Ever since elementary school, editing and acting had been my passions. However, when I entered college, I chose Information Technology, thinking it would focus on editing. Unfortunately, I realized I was mistaken—it was primarily about coding.

At first, coding was difficult for me, but I eventually taught myself and managed to keep up. As everyone says, “Focus on what you like.” It wasn’t until my fourth year that I realized I didn’t want to pursue coding any further. As the leader of my capstone project, I experienced firsthand how demanding coding can be—every bug had to be fixed, and it was overwhelming.

I started thinking about what would suit me best. I discovered that I am good at analytics and enjoy designing, which led me to research digital marketing. After graduation, I applied to the call center industry and was fortunate to get hired. I worked at IQOR for about two and a half months, and I learned a lot from that experience.

Afterward, I decided to focus on upskilling. I revisited and honed my skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, video editing, WordPress, Facebook management, and Google Analytics.
